Botanicals
Flowers, particularly orchids, are a subject I frequently enjoy shooting. In the "studio" (i.e. my garage), they are particularly fun - because they don't move around (and I can take my time setting things up). Of course, I have to be careful with lights (I confess - I cooked an orchid once by getting the spotlight too close). Out in the field, photographing flowers and plants is more challenging. The wind usually makes it impossible to take long exposures - so my depth of field is limited. But there is something about taking a photograph "in the wild" that returns more of a "reward" feeling.
The one problem I have - I'm terrible at remembering to write down what it is I'm photographing. Many of these photographs were taken more because I found the composition interesting than because I was photographing a particular species. Where I could, I've tried to put in a name. Anyone viewing these who wants to provide more information (or corrections) please feel free to comment.
I held off on publishing this gallery for a long time as I felt I needed to enter in names and descriptions for every photograph. Eventually, I decided that was silly. I went ahead with publishing things "as is". I'll go back later to fill in names and descriptions. Enjoy!
