Erebus adora
This was also photographed at the house we stayed at near Monteverde. It was a great place for moths it seems.
There is also a funny story about this particular species. I became interested in butterflies and moths as a boy attending a seven week boys camp in upper New Hampshire. There was a butterfly and moth display case in the nature house with an Erebus Adora which had been captured long ago (back in the early 60's). The specimen was fading and it was really a fluke - they are a tropical species and would never appear in New Hampshire. The tale was that a hurricane along the east coast coincided with the capture and it was therefore the theory that the moth was blown all the way up from Florida or even further south.
In any case, the "Erebus adora" was the envy of every boy who collected butterflies and moths and I was no different. So it is kind of funny that many, many years later I "found one" just outside the door where we were staying.
