Bodie - A California Ghost Town
Bodie
Abstract - Tin Siding on a Building in Bodie converted to B&W
In these times, as Covid-19 rates increase going into winter here in California, there are few opportunities to go out an explore, So what is a photograher to do? For myself, I decided to review older photographs and look for compositions within images that I previously rejected. This image was photographed in the old Bodie ghost town in mid-July of 2020. My wife and I had become so stir-crazy with staying inside that a camping trip was the only salvation we could think of that kept us "distant" while still allowing us to go abroad. Bodie was open - with social distancing recommendations and guidelines in place. I spent only a short time there (I've been there many times) and this section of a wall made of tin and wood caught my eye. Although there was limited color to begin with, I removed it entirely in Lightroom and then sharpended the image in Topaz AI. It reminds me a bit of one of my photographic "mentors" - Brett Weston. His abstract compostiions always impressed me. I'm not sure if this would be an image he would react positively to but, on this night with little else to do, it's something that gets me through another day of quarantine
