Bodie State Park - Morgue
There are a number of rooms in Bodie with chairs in them. Empty chairs facing windows with nobody sitting in them and - what with all the dirt and condition of the chairs anyway - it was clear nobody had sat in them for quite a while. I'm not much for photgraphing people, so a place like Bodie is perfect for me. It's more reminiscent of the people who were there than what was left behind. Sometimes, however, a scene like this makes me wonder what it would be like to have someone sit in that chair for a photograph. Not that I could do that - it wouldn't be allowed. And, even if I could take a photograph like that, I'd be more tempted to combine one shot with someone in the chair with several other shots where the person wasn't sitting weren't there. The end result would be sort of a "ghost" image. I know, it's hokey idea - and one I can't do anyway - but there is something about this scene and some others that makes me think of it.
