Bodie State Park - Lottie Johl House

Another photograph taken in the front room of the Lottie Johl house. This really shows off the morning light and gives you a good look at the furniture and paintings left in the house. What is possibly not as easily seen is how much dust is covering everything. You have to be really careful in here not to disturb that dust and leave any mark that you visited. Part of the charm of Bodie is the appearance that things have just been left undisturbed since the original owners left. That really isn't the case, the content is more like "props" that were added in the past. But they were added so long ago that they are falling apart in many ways and the accumulation of dust and cobwebs has become part of the house.

HDR and Photomatix made it possible to both capture the morning light inside the front room while still preserving the blue sky and view outside coming through the window.
