Abstracts and Textures
I've always been a fan of "textures". I remember taking a black and white photograph of an old gasoline pump in the town where I grew up (Concord, MA). It was on the side of the road near an old farm and it probably was put in for the local farmers at one time. I liked the rust and peeling paint and took a close up photograph of the side with just the peeling paint. My art teacher wasn't that impressed but I wasn't deterred. I still enjoy photographing "textures".

Seaweed and Rock
An afternoon trip to the beach up near Point Reyes, CA - back when we were living in San Francisco and it wasn't a long drive to get there. On this particular trip, we got to the beach rather late in the day and decided to stay until the sun went down. There is something about late afternoon light that tends to inspire me. It can change a simple composition - such as this rock and piece of seaweed - into an image that might otherwise look pretty lame.
